More people are in slavery today than at any other time in human history, including all those seized from Africa during the four centuries of the trans-Atlantic slave-trade. Human trafficking occurs when traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to exploit people into the commercial sex industry, domestic servitude, manual labor, and in other ways. Though complete, that definition cannot capture the suffering of modern-day slaves. It is easy for North Americans to feel removed from the pain and think human trafficking is only happening in remote places around the world. However, it is happening here in the United States of America as well.
Psalm 82:3-4: Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from hte hand of the wicked.
