Offering is more than giving a church money. In fact, one can give a church money and still not give God an offering. Offering is an act of worship towards God. It is a tangible way we express all that has been given to us by our Creator. It is by its very nature an act of trust; showing that we belong to him.
Many people commit a percent of their income to God. This “tithe” dates back to the Old Testament when the Israelites gave the first portion of crops they harvested back to God. These first fruits, sacrifices, displayed that they were God’s people.
But,God doesn’t want a percent of our income; he doesn’t need it. Instead God wants all that you are. He wants us to commit our calendars, our check books, our decisions, our everything to him so that each one of us may be used in ways to further illuminate the presence of God’s Kingdom here on earth.
